Discovering Madagascar with bandro reisen

Tour and Trip 2013 2014

The name Bandro reisen: In Madagascar, this name seems strange to people. When I was preparing the paperwork, I was always questioned by the authorities of its meaning.
• Bandro (Hapalemur alaotrensis) is a species of lemur living in the north-east of Madagascar. As my late father was from the region of Alaotra, I chose this name among all to commemorate his name.

Hapalemur alaotrensis (Alaotran Gentle Lemur): means bamboo lemur in French, and in Malagasy: Bandro.

Hapalemur alaotrensis:

This species belongs to the family of Lemuridae and genus of Hapalemur. She lives around Lac Alaotra and feeds mainly on papyrus (Cyperus madagascariensis) and two species of grass (Echinochloa crusgalli and Leersia haxandra). She lives in a large group and its territory ranges from 1 to 8 ha. There are more than one female in a group. To find them, we must go early in the morning by canoe (travel by pirogue). The best place to start is Andreba on the eastern side of the lake or Andilana Atsimo on the western side.

• Reisen (travel, tour)? It's easy, because I studied German and it is part of my life.
The headquarters is located in Antananarivo.
